The word mediocre has a peculiar definition. My Concise OED says "neither bad nor good; fairly bad; of middling quality."

These articles are about "fairly bad" or worse. Discussions of middle-of-the-road products or policies or behaviors contributes very little. Being warned off something that is fairly bad can be helpful.

My parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles all tried to teach me not to say anything at all if I couldn't say anything nice. Fair enough. If you care about what I think is good, see my articles on excellence.
