Consulting Services

for Small & Medium Clients

I provide a variety of services to small and very small businesses. I have a particular interest in helping very small businesses, especially with Web site development.

Software Development

I can build customized software designed to meet the specific needs of your business or to solve specific business problems.

My education was in computer science.  I have been programming professionally since 1973. When I wasn't programming for an employer or client, I was programming for myself or for a pro bono client.

Systems Consulting

I can provide advice and guidance about your computing environment.

  • Configuring, operating, and maintaining your systems
  • Computer hardware purchasing
  • Network design and deployment
  • Cost-effective printing
  • Software selection and purchasing
  • Emergency and long-term budgeting
  • Integrating computing into your business planning

Because I do not resell hardware or software, you may be sure that my advice is objective and not based upon any ulterior motive. If you already have a supplier of systems and software, I will be glad to work with them.

Fees - Hourly

Most of my systems work and all of my maintenance work is performed on an hourly basis. I charge in increments of 1/10 hours. Billing is weekly and terms are net due upon reciept.

Fees - Projects

I perform most Web site and other development work on a contract basis for a negotiated fixed fee plus expenses.  I will supply a proposal specifying the work to be completed and the pricing.  The client must provide a written engagement letter from a company owner or officer agreeing to the work to be performed and the pricing.

A retainer, usually 40% of the fixed fee, is required to commence work; the balance is payable upon delivery of the work.  Payment terms are net due upon receipt of invoice.  Longer projects may require progress payments. Some projects may require a designated representative of the client to act as the single point of contact for decisions.

Business expenses incurred during the project are the responsibility of the client.  To the extent possible, the client will be aware of all such expenditures in advance.  Expense invoices are accompanied by a detailed accounting, are billable weekly, and are payable upon receipt of invoice.

Work outside the scope of the proposal is billed on an hourly basis.

For Web site development, please see my business site, WebDesignBuild.biz.

Terms and conditions are subject to change without notice. The information about fees on this site should be considered guidelines; the written agreement between Will Fastie and his client shall determine actual terms and conditions for the engagement.
